Kerr Lake State Recreation Area is a collective of seven access areas scattered around the shoreline of this 50,000-acre reservoir that reaches into Virginia. All access areas provide at least one boat ramp, offering access to one of the best fishing lakes in the eastern United States. Robert S. Kerr Reservoir, located in the picturesque Cookson Hills country, lies on the Arkansas River about eight miles south of Sallisaw. The Visitor Assistance Center at John H. Kerr Reservoir is located adjacent to the Dam, next to North Bend Park. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Hearts & Horses provides a variety of therapeutic and educational programs utilizing our incredible herd of four-legged therapists. Keats Point Farm is located on the Virginia/North Carolina state line, bordered on three sides by Kerr Lake. If a site becomes available you will receive an email notice. Camping equipment may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours. We are accomplishing our ministry vision by providing a safe, family-friendly environment for rest, recreation, and spiritual refreshment through family camping at Camp Kerr Lake -- where busy families can reconnect, reprioritize, and rebuild.
