Because of the political and social circumstances that prevailed during the mid 60’s in the Cardamom growing region, growers primarily from Tamilnadu & Kerala were forced to get united under a common banner which paved the way for the formation of ‘The Kerala Cardamom Growers Union’ in 1969. The main objective was to tackle the labour unrest that prevailed in the plantations.
Acute shortage of agro-inputs and lack of reliable source of supply ignited the thought for forming a Farmer co-operative to address the same, which resulted in the formation of ‘CPMCS’ in 1974. The Society from then till to date has pioneered in providing the world class inputs to the Cardamom/Tea/Coffee growers which were impossible during those days.
To overcome the hassles in selling the farmer produces, mainly Cardamom and due to the lack of an organized ‘system’ in auctions, which resulted in the emergence of ‘CPMCS’ in ‘AUCTIONS’ in 1986. It was CPMCS, who introduced ‘DUE DAY’ in auctions.
